Photo Service Day Trip
Join us for a day trip to the Berkshires. –RESCHEDULED until Spring semester– , we will leave campus at 10am (tentative time) and make the 45 minute trip to Massachusetts.
Hancock Shaker Village, circa 1785. This village is right outside Pittsfield, and has many antique houses, barns, farms, and the likes. 20 acres of beautiful landscape and tons of cows! It’s very photogenic, with rooms being very rustic and simple, but the light in some of the buildings make dramatic settings and perfect silloutte opportunities. Ben Garver, the Photo Editor for the Berkshire Eagle newspaper, will join us for an hour or two for a hands on photo tutorial.
Second stop: Lake Onata for a picnic lunch. (bring or buy your own) Very scenic lake with public beach, fishing dock, boating, and plenty of space.
Third, and final destination: The Norman Rockwell Museum. Located in the very beautiful town of Stockbridge, the museum has an extensive gallery and large property, including outside sculptures and Rockwell’s actual studio. Norman Rockwell paintings are so fine in their details that they can almost be photographs, so we can learn alot from him.
Check back for definite dates and more details, including who’s driving and what else to prepare for. The first of many great Photo Service trips!
